To announce the XIX edition of the RECENT SPANISH CINEMA series this coming October, we celebrated the release of Pedro Almodóvar's new film I'M SO EXCITED with a pair of the director's classics at the Egyptian Theatre: "WOMEN ON THE VERGE OF A NERVOUS BREAKDOWN" and "MATADOR". The event began with a tasting of wines from 6 different wineries from the region of La Mancha, Spain, including the following premium Spanish brands: Altolandon, Encomienda de Cervera, Arrayan, Finca el Refugio, Verum and Los Aljibes, which were served with and Spanish "jamon" and cheese.

Among the guests attending the event were a large number of Spanish entertainment industry professionals, such as filmmaker and actor Achero Mañas, actor Miguel Angel Muñoz and Sony International marketing director Ignacio Darnaude, to name a few. Members of the MPAA, HFPA, BAFTA, directors of other film festivals, and representatives of Spanish institutions, such as the General Consul of Spain in Los Angeles, Mr. Enrique Ruiz Molero, the director of The Tourist Office of Spain in Los Angeles, Javier Piñanes, and the director of the Spanish Trade Commission office in Los Angeles, Jorge Sanz, were also on-hand with many Angelino lovers of Spanish cinema.

The Recent Spanish Cinema series is produced by The Spanish Institute of Cinematography and Audiovisual Arts (ICAA), under the Spanish Ministry of Education, Culture and Sport, along with the American Cinematheque and EGEDA.

We would like to express our deepest thanks to all who attended the event.
